My Story
As a young girl, Ronnie Barken found solace in her art; it became a source of peace and freedom for her.
She successfully gained admission to the Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. However, that summer, just before she was set to begin college, her mother kicked her out of the house for getting a tattoo. Determined not to let this amazing opportunity slip away, she went to college, but after only two months, she had to withdraw due to the challenge of balancing living costs with her academic obligations.
In her twenties, she crafted a strategy that would enable her to return to school while managing her work duties. She enrolled in The Creative Circus for graphic design while simultaneously operating her home cleaning business. This endeavor paved the way for a thriving design career, with her illustrations and designs featured in CMYK magazine, The One Show in New York, and the Creativity 37 Awards Annual. During her free time, she managed to return to painting. Her oil paintings have been displayed in the Castleberry Hill Art District, and her works have been sold at various art events in Atlanta.
Her artistic themes are diverse, with some pieces inspired by her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, while others reflect her journeys across the United States and internationally. Additionally, she continues to produce commissioned artworks.
